The planning and acquiring of media from clients to start a website can be time consuming. We can do our design quickly and efficiently if we have all the pieces of the puzzle when we begin. Here are some things to consider to expedite the process.
- Have you explored registering a domain name? Do you know what you would like for a name?
- Is there a logo or color scheme that you would like incorporated into the design?
- How many pages will be required to explain your message and feature your products or services?
- Will any special tools need to be developed for users to interact with your site?
- What pages will be included on your site? (e.g. About your company, company history, product pages, executive bios, other links, services, news, contact form, etc.)?
- Has text been written for each of these pages? If not, do you need a copywriter?
- Who is the targeted audience for your website?
- What is the purpose of your website? Will the site be used to dispense information? Will your website be used as a sales vehicle with online transactions? Will your website be a tool to help gather data for marketing purposes?
- What functionality do you want on your site (i.e. an email list for mail marketing, a database for products or contacts, a message board for client feedback, etc.)?
- Who are your biggest competitors online? What do you like or dislike about their websites?
Consider some these questions as you begin to think about how your website will work for your business.
